Pile Target and Precision Monitoring Using Total Station

Pile targets are installed typically at the top of each pile in a site once the piles are installed and the first excavation cut has occurred. Pile targets are read with a total station, during active excavation and until excavations are backfilled or underground permanent structures are built. The total station measures the horizontal movement (movement of pile into or out of site) and vertical movement (settlement) of each pile.
Precision targets are installed on neighbouring structures within the zone of influence of the site. These are used to verify existing buildings are not being affected by construction activities nearby.
