InGeo Design was engaged by Construction Dermathieu & Bard (CDB) Inc. to support the replacement of the Catharine Street Pedestrian Bridge, a vital link across the Moira River near downtown Belleville. The original structure had reached the end of its service life due to deterioration and delamination, prompting the construction of a new pedestrian bridge at the same location to restore safe access between West Hill and the city’s downtown core.

With a focused project footprint and limited access near the riverbanks, the bridge’s foundation demanded a compact, high-performance solution. InGeo was tasked with designing a micropile system to support the central bridge pier, along with engineering the performance frame for a 250% design load test.

Key Challenges
• Supporting a new bridge structure within a tight urban footprint along the river
